With over ten years of experience in the science and administration field of Exercise Science and Physiology, Stephen has advanced knowledge of biomechanics, kinesiology, human anatomy and physiology, with emphasis in muscular development and injury prevention. With his previous experience working with and progressing athletes at the collegiate and professional level, he specializes in strength and conditioning programming and individualized training for groups of all sizes and ages. His training protocols are devoted towards injury prevention, functional movement, joint stability, core strength, full body strength, rehabilitation, weight loss, conditioning, body composition and much more.

Ryan Marr, B.S., M.S., CSCS/NSCA, USAW-Level 1

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Ryan came to Salt Lake City to join the SLC Strength & Conditioning team as a strength and conditioning coach in January, 2020. Ryan holds an M.S. in Exercise Science from Liberty University and a B.S. in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, as well as a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach through the USA Weightlifting Federation. In addition to his impressive educational background, Ryan, also has years worth of experience training athletes at the collegiate, professional, and Olympic level.

Prior to coming to Utah, Ryan began his career as an undergraduate, working with the football strength and conditioning staff at Florida State University during the summer of 2016. In Fall 2016, Ryan accepted an opportunity as a strength and conditioning coach with Gayle Hatch Weightlifting; working with numerous collegiate and professional athletes as well as Olympic hopefuls. Coach Hatch was named the Head Olympic Weightlifting Coach for Team USA in the 2004 Olympics and has been inducted into the Olympic Weightlifting Hall of Fame and Strength & Conditioning Hall of Fame. Ryan stated that having the opportunity to work under Coach Hatch was truly influential and has shaped a lot of his teaching techniques in the years to come through today. After his time with Gayle Hatch Weightlifting, Ryan spent three seasons working with the football strength and conditioning program at Texas A&M University where he was a part of multiple staffs, appearing in three bowl games.

With Ryan’s strong background in strength and conditioning and Olympic weightlifting, paired with his commitment to continuing education, based on his belief that there is always room to gain knowledge and for improvement, Ryan excels in program implementation for groups of all sizes and ages, in addition to teaching Olympic weightlifting movements and their derivatives to novice and advanced individuals.

Sese Ianu, BS

Sese has many years of experience with training athletes and teaching proper execution of lifting, training and conditioning techniques.  With a strong background in sociology, Sese can connect and motivate groups or individuals of all ages to understand and achieve maximum performance in all areas of strength and conditioning. As a former collegiate and professional athlete, he also has experience in planning, customizing, and teaching specific position skills and programs. His motivation will make the workout exciting, while implementing a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for clients.

Originally from Manchester, England, Luke’s experience in Strength and Conditioning and his desire to educate as he coaches attract what many people are looking for. His time spent as a Division 1 Football Strength and Conditioning Coach taught him the importance of communication, expert instruction, and enthusiasm which works synergistically to bring custom individualized training. Luke strives to help all who he works with identify their weak points and turn them into strengths. His focuses are on strength and power development, corrective exercise, and proper movement and stability coaching.

Luke’s passion for exercise and training continues to grow as he endeavors to share his knowledge with others, and help them meet their performance goals while engaging in work that creates progression in all areas of life.

Luke strongly believes that participating in competitive or rigorous pursuits do not need to end after one is done with high school or university sports. In his free time, you can find him backpacking local trails, fly-fishing, hunting, and competing in local Strongman and Highland Games which Luke has podiumed numerous times (yes, he wears a kilt).

Experience in healthcare, diagnostic stress testing, and education with an extensive background in direct patient care, patient education, human physiology and anatomy, and more recently, technical education, development and implementation. Kristy gained the necessary skills and knowledge in the Exercise Science and Physiology field through her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and previous employment at Intermountain Healthcare and the University of Utah Healthcare, and continues to practice her expertise in employee training, development, and implementation at Myriad Genetics Inc. She currently holds advanced certifications through the American Heart Association, the National Board of Respiratory Care, and Training.

Kristy developed a passion for educating the community on the importance of exercise and nutrition early on in life and earned her Gold Award with the Girl Scouts of Utah for a community outreach program that she was able to implement in several elementary schools in Utah. She also won First Place with the Health Occupation Student Association for a similar educational program that was implemented in several middle schools and high schools throughout Utah.

Lauren is a passionate health and wellness professional, she graduated from the University of Utah 2015 with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise & Sport Science (emphasis in Fitness Leadership) as well as a minor in Nutrition. She has extensive knowledge and experience with individual and group training for clients of all physical abilities. She is currently a certified yoga instructor, indoor cycling instructor and working toward becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Lauren loves all types of movement and exercise and enjoys helping clients reach their goals!

Nick is a seasoned coach in baseball and strength and conditioning with over 10 years experience in the industry. Through his bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science and coaching career, he has gained an advanced knowledge of Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics, and Kinesiology. 

Nick enjoys coaching small and large groups of all ages and strives to provide a safe and motivating atmosphere for all his clients.

Pat has worked with numerous companies and organizations on both their video needs and to help build and improve their websites. While pursuing filmmaking throughout college and beyond, he’s remained intrigued about the power of web technology. He’s always up to experiment with the newest technology or help companies create the video content they need. Pat has experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, Python, WordPress, Video Editing and FX, and the Adobe Creative Suite. He’s currently learning Java because why not? We’ll see how that goes…
